Robotic Rings That Blink and Smile Will Catch Any Geeky Fashionista’s Eye
Geeky accessories are all the rage these days. That statement might be a little biased, given the fact that I’m a huge geek at heart.
But I believe you’ll have to agree with me about the coolness factor of these robotic rings that were developed by a research group at Keio University.
The researchers said: “The robot has electromagnetic motors in the eyes, which are controlled electrically. This bottom part contains a microcontroller to move the eyes, and a battery.”

The robotic ring is controlled with the use of a micro-controller and a PC. However, the researchers are planning to take it a step further by adding sensors so that it will automatically move once it senses motion by the wearer and nearby people.
The researchers added: “We’ve designed this ring-shaped robot as an entertaining communication device, like an accessory that’s fun to wear, to help wearable robots progress beyond the research stage.”
